East of the River is a musical project spearheaded by virtuoso recorder players Nina Stern and Daphna Mor. The ensemble is currently performing Levantera, an interpretation of traditional music from Armenia, the Balkans, Medieval Italy and the Middle East. With centuries-old instruments, East of the River plays the earliest songs of those cultures, together with their traditional dances. On March 16, they will fill Flushing Town Hall with everything from lyrically haunting melodies to frenzied dances as part of the Five Boroughs Music Festival.
