openhousenewyork Weekend is almost upon us – this year, it is on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7. This weekend’s event allows everyone, “free access hundreds of sites talks, tours, performances and family activities in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs.” People love to visit these spots they may not usually have access to.

For those not familiar with OHNY, this is their mission:

openhousenewyork® (OHNY) is a 501(c)3 organization that promotes a greater appreciation of the city’s built environment; broadens public awareness by exposing diverse audiences to distinctive examples of architecture, engineering and design; educates and inspires discussion of issues of excellence in design, planning and preservation; and showcases outstanding new work as well as structures of historic merit.

openhousenewyork is part of a worldwide open house network called Open House Worldwide. There are 12 members, including Open House London and Open House Jerusalem.
