The Queens Council on the Arts is hosting the first ever Queens Literary Town Hall next Friday, October 18th. The event, curated by Queens-based artist Audrey Dimola, is described as “part performance, part soapbox, and part networking opportunity.” The idea is to provide a space for Queens-based writers to connect to each other, local literary organizations and reading series. Organizations like the Newtown Literary Journal, Astoria Bookshop and Enigma Bookstore are scheduled to appear. Here’s a great list of Queens literary resources, many of which will be represented at the Town Hall. Right now, the event is accepting people on a wait list basis — entry costs $5.
