Checking in on Scarano Apartments in East Williamsburg

It’s been years since we’ve visited 168-172 Meserole Street, a Scarano-designed building in East Williamsburg that first filed for permits back in 2003. Since we last peeked in 2008, there’s been quite a lot of progress on the exterior of the building. Back then we didn’t like what appeared to be a pointed roof, but now that we can see the whole design, we think this building has more panache than the usual developer special. A lis pendens was filed against the building for $6 million in 2009; in January, it sold from one LLC to another for $5,750,000. Not much visible work seems to have taken place since at least March, judging by the photos on PropertyShark. Permits were taken over and renewed a few weeks ago by engineering consultants Schneider Associates of Watchtung, N.J. It appears the interior and the facade on the bottom floor still remain to be finished.
