Louis Valentino Pier is part of what will ultimately become the Brooklyn Greenway. It’s a quiet refuge that attracts both old school fisherman and young couples in search of romance. One of my favorite things to do these past Fall and Winter months is to grab a coffee or hot cider and head out to the Pier to watch the sun set over New York Bay. The pier is also home to a public boat launch and come summer one can make good use of it for kayaking or canoeing.

  1. Anon–Is there a reason you’re so bitter and negative regarding all of this? I’m assuming you’re working off some expertise on development and/or that you’ve got some personal experience with this project–would you care to elaborate? Otherwise you just come off like someone who feels like taking potshots at others from the comfort of an unidentifiable perch.

  2. The web posting for the brooklyn greenway is the impractical ideas of a a group of individuals with insufficient financial means and little hope of accomplishing anything. To characterize it as full information is to put it mildly one sided.

  3. FYI, there’s a serious old school fishing subculture if you venture further out onto the “hook” part of Red Hook that extends into the water–on the weekends when it’s warm you can see dozens of folks fishing over the railing. Possibly not long for this world, depending on the Ikea Effect…
