  1. also after doing some research on 277 skillman…the house next door is a rent stabilized building full of rough/wildcard tenants. the owner has tried to sell that building to no avail. it doesn’t look like there is much hope for this block.

  2. 277 Skillman has been on the market for months and for good reason. Its literally right next to the projects and also on a horribly hideous block filled with falling apart homes. The current buyer overpaid and is now moving after only a year because they don’t feel safe in the area (I know this from visiting the open house). The current price is ridiculous as the resale on this property will not be good considering the projects aren’t going anywhere!

    • Ditto what amyskye wrote about 277 Skillman. The owner wants out badly – they overpaid because they bought hastily as they saw the market quickly going up. Their broker must have done a real number on them to get them to buy so hastily (happens all the time…)

I suspect there will be a wave of sales to follow in a couple of years where owners just want to get their money back because they bought thinking it was their last chance. I saw this house a while ago and the broker at the time was pretty upfront about the situation. Refreshing to hear the truth from a broker, but not so good for the seller! Guess they are desperate just to get this thing sold and done with. I agree the block is quite unattractive- new cheap buildings are going up in the immediate vicinity. The developers building on that block have ruined what might have been an otherwise decent block. I can imagine the owners will take much less than ask but the photos in the listings look much nicer than in realty. Good luck to the owners unloading their hasty purchase! My guess is they will eventually sell it for $1M all cash. Buyers – go for it if you can stomach this block!
