The IBM history link was fascinating. Did you notice the lovely building on page 1 – the “former former” IBM plant at Gates and Nostrand? Does anyone know what the building is now? My 1988 3rd edition AIA still calls it a “former IBM plant”.
I’ve watched construction on this site for several months now — this is very good news as far as protecting the east views of the Spencer St condos…Now if we could just get some reassurance about the west (Manhattan) views)…
this address used to be the site of an IBM plant, it was part of an effort to put jobs in the inner city – I biked by it a few years ago & it caught my eye, plopped down there among the brownstones & older buildings.

I love the ‘pot! And I’m moving to Crown Heights next month, a short distance from this! WooHoo!
That HD is no longer #1, ever since they opened a few others in brooklyn, but it’s still doing very well.

Oh man, that’s the best news I’ve heard all week.
This would be no surprise given that the Home Depot on Hamilton in Gowanus is the apparently the highest revenue generating HD in the country.
