I couldn’t agree with this article more. Stuff sold at IKEA is total CRAP. Everything ever bought from that place falls apart. Keep the cheap crap in Scandinavia.
Is it really a surprise that Ikea is going back on its promise not to tear down the dry dock? They have a history of promising the world to get a proposed store approved and then not sticking to their word. They tried to tear down a historic Marcel Breuer building in New Haven after promising the town zoning board that they wouldn’t touch the building. Just recently they tore down a historic building on the Red Hook site without the proper permits, and knowing that it was loaded with asbestos. They endangered the health of the demolition workers and other people who work nearby. They aren’t the caring, “We’re-Scandanavian-and-therefore-progressive” company that they claim to be. It’s a load of bull. They are just like every other mega international corporation: they will do whatever it takes to make more money.
