It’s official: The cast of the 21st season of “The Real World” will live in Downtown Brooklyn’s Belltel Lofts, says the Daily News. And how pumped does Belltell owner David Bistricer sound? Palpably. “It is what it is. It’s the ‘Real World,'” says Bistricer. (Isn’t it kinda weird that the day a measure to preserve Starrett City’s affordability is announced, spurned buyer Bistricer is in the news for bringing the height of philistine vulgarity MTV to Brooklyn?) The seven strangers will be living in a $6 million, 6,000-square-foot, two-story penthouse. A Jacuzzi will be imported. Fun facts: The spread will be the smallest in “Real World” history, and filming will not be allowed in Belltel’s common areas. See you at Floyd, guys.

Please please tell Floyd NY owners ban all Real World d-bags from ever entering my current favorite bar. If they are allowed in, not even free booze on league bacce night would get me back in the door.

Deity is awesome. I could totally see them hanging in that space. By the way, I’m a resident in Belltel and most of the building is very happy about Real World coming here. The exposure is worth a few months of filming. They really aren’t going to be bothering anyone since they will be on the 26th and 27th floor. There isn’t anyone living above 17 at this time.
where do I sign up?
I’m an owner. Knowing that they will be barred from the common areas removes most of the potetial headaches in my mind. The only chance for interaction would be briefly in the lobby. I talked to some friends in real estate when the story first broke, and they feel this will definitely benefit our apt. values long-term.
One other note to posters – Downtown is safe with a large police presence, and Belltel has the added benefit of the Metrotech security apparatus – surveillance cams and 24-hour security guards at many a nearby building. Just because Fulton doesn’t suit your shopping needs/demographic, doesn’t mean it’s rife with crime. I’m ten-year resident of Brooklyn and Queens, and my wife is a Queens native, and we love Downtown and its potential.
They should all get bicycles instead of cars. Since the Barclay stadium won’t be anywhere as far as development this summer, they should get jobs at ikea, or maybe some sort of development for the landscaping of the flatbush corridor, fulton mall or Bam Plaza.
Are there any actual residents of this building who care to comment about this? How do you feel having camera crews around the building, even if they aren’t filming you? I’d be nervous about crowds of teens coming to gawk.
Subway access beats anywhere else in Brooklyn, even Atlantic Mall, so they don’t even need to take a cab.
They’ve always taken lots of cabs in other cities. And sometimes they get a car/van for the duration. I truly wish they had to deal with alternate side of the street parking, but I doubt that.
I can see Deity on Atlantic being frequented, it’s like the only place to dance in that area.
