The Theater for a New Audience will debut at its permanent Brooklyn home on October 19, with a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Theater for a New Audience is the first stage built for Shakespeare and classical drama in New York City since the Vivian Beaumont in 1965. The 299-seat venue, designed by H3 Hugh Hardy Architecture, is a sustainable “green” building, and the design was inspired by the Cottlesloe Theatre of Britain’s Royal National.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream kicks off two full seasons for the Shakespearian theater company in the the brand-new performance space. Previews of A Midsummer Night’s Dream begin October 19 for an opening on November 2. The season continues with British actor Michael Pennington in the title role of King Lear, which begins previews March 14. The season concludes with Eugène Ionesco’s The Killer. The following 2014-2015 season will include The Valley of Astonishment, Tamburlaine Parts I and II, and A Doll’s House. You can find ticket information at the TFANA website.
