We gave this Henry Radusky building a harsh review when we saw it rising in 2007. Now, it’s fully erect and sporting its new occupant: Center of Light, a Christian mystical school, it seems, whose motto is “It’s a soul thing.” Classes include Introduction to Meditation and Christian Mysticism, Bible Contemplation and Tree of Life instruction (“for the purpose of unfolding the Soul alchemically and for opening up one’s spiritual consciousness to the Wisdom of God”). Hey, this ain’t no bank or cell phone shop. GMAP

  1. Back to the topic….What , in god’s name, does the phrase “for the purpose of unfolding the Soul alchemically” mean??? I know what the ancient science of alchemy is all about. Gold today is at $710.80

  2. This is oddly coincidental! Yesterday I got a call from one of the realtors who has been showing our store in Park Slope. He brought over the 2 ministers starting the New York branch of Center of Light and Father Peter. They liked the place and said they wanted to rent it.

I started doing some research about the Center. I looked at their web site and saw the 478 Smith location and asked the realtor what happened with that place. It seems they’ve been trying to open up there since the summer. DoB research shows there’s still not a C of O on the space. The realtor says the Center has been living in a space without gas or heat. Yesterday I think they signed for an apartment in Park Slope, too.

Think we should rent to the Center or Vlad and Dmitry’s crepery?

  3. lisa, that answer was amazing. I bow to you!! Your Dr. Wayne Dyer reference was hilarious. Good to see the Brownstoner staff has such a good sense of humor.

While I can’t promise that we’ll be nice to each other, hopefully we’ve never been unkind to you. I’ve been less than prolific, to say the least, in sending in tips and story ideas, but at least I’m pretty confident in saying I’ve helped contribute an insane amount of posts that have nothing whatsoever to do with the story!

  4. Biff, I’m glad you asked for my views on comments. I would like it if you were all really nice to each other, never said anything unkind about me (or anything at all), gently corrected me when I was wrong, sent a thousand fantastic tips and story ideas every day and had long, worthwhile discussions with one another. Or, you know, 50 posts that have nothing whatsoever to do with the story–that’ll do, too. Also, I’d like Dr. Wayne Dyer to tell me how to attract anything I want in 30 days. Oh, that last thing is actually possible!
