It’s the building we love to hate: 45 3rd Place, the atrocity in question that has flouted the neighborhood’s vernacular architecture, has units for rent, according to a sign posted in the front yard. After 19 months on the market, and three months after the first price reductions, the aesthetically-challenged developer is trying to cut his losses. According to a reader who called the number listed on the sign in the front yard, the asking price for each unit is $6,500.

I believe it was Alice Roosevelt (daughter of TR) who is credited with the “sit next to me” aphorism.
TR once famously said “I can run the country, or I can control Alice, but I can’t do both”
Now, for the house,
I think things in NY are out of whack when a property this ugly, in a location this ordinary, is demanding this kind of rental price.
It really is time to consider cashing in and getting out of dodge. I never thought I would say it, but what is happening now is just insane. and the poverty that is apparent everywhere is no better than it was twenty years ago.
And Parker also said “If you want to know what god thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to.”
Hey, the place is ugly but don’t exaggerate. The location is fine. It’s not like it’s way down near Hamilton and there WILL be an open subway on the other side of Smith Street if/when Stein gets to continue building.
$6500 – to live 3 or 4 blocks from the CLOSED entrance to the F train and no other subway. To be at the FAR end of Carroll Gardens. To live in a piece of a poorly done ugly reno. UGH!
What: Was it Dorothy Parker who said – if you don’t have anything nice to stay, come sit by me.
Hey Fucktards! I’m standing over here, ROTFFLMMFAO!!!!!!!
Shoot over here.
The What
Someday this war isgonna end…
Not to encourage namecalling but I have to say that asshat is one of my new favorites. I’ll try to work it into conversation as many times as I can today. Good stuff!
No lechacal. I was backing you up. That was squarely aimed at the What. Sorry if you misunderstood.
Wasder, was your last sentence directed at me?
Rather than recommending that the What choke himself I would simply point out that this fucktard is not the same as the rest of the asshats on this site. Very few of us are doing anything other than trying to find a nice place to live that we can afford and that will meet our needs in the long term. We are not building bizarre contraptions on top of our houses. Your inability to discern between overreaching developers and regular folks trying to find a place to live is laughable and makes everything you have to say be taken for the indiscriminate ranting that it is.
