ArtInfo has put together a list and accompanying slideshow on where to see great street art in NYC. We were happy to see that 5 Pointz in LIC (GMAP), Welling Court in Astoria (GMAP), and almost-in-Ridgewood but Bushwick 5 Points (GMAP) were all included. Not far from the Ridgewood border – again, in Bushwick – is the art on Vandervoort Place between Flushing Avenue and Thames Street (GMAP) and Gardner Avenue between Flushing and Johnson Avenues (GMAP).

Here’s how ArtInfo sees the street art in and near Queens. First, 5 Pointz.

5 Pointz Queens

New York’s high temple to graffiti and street art, which looms across the street from MoMA PS1, stands to be demolished on its 20th anniversary to make way for luxury housing (what else?). Since taking over as the site’s curator and director in 2002, street artistMeres One has overseen the richest mural program in the city, with a near constant turnover that attracts artists from all over the boroughs, the country, and the world.

Welling Court Murals:

Now in its third season, the Ad Hoc Art-curated mural project takes over a tiny corner of Queens every summer with a wealth of new murals by local and international artists. The current batch includes works by Jaz, Never Satisfied, Chris Stain, M-City, and Sweet Toof.

Though the imminent disappearance of 5Pointz will be a huge loss for the city’s street art scene, a new Five Points has emerged in Bushwick, where a coalition of local landlords have invited artists including Jim Avignon, ND’A, Nick Walker, Overunder, Joe Iurato, and many more to create massive new murals in the ever-expanding street art district.

It’s satisfying to have recognition for the interesting and beautiful street art in Queens. Are there spots you know of that sport excellent street art in Queens? Let us know in the comments or via twitter at @queensnycity.
