Mural/Ad Appears on Warren
A reader sent in this pic of an old-timey style mural that’s been painted on the side of a building on Warren Street near the corner of Court. It appears that Hendrick’s has put them up in New York, San Fransisco and Boston.

does it come with a coupon? I wouldn’t mind my martini getting a little discount.
It’s from Williamsburg based Mural company Colossal (http://www.colossalmedia.net/about). They’ve permeated Manhattan and Williamsburg, not to mention other cities/states) this corner is the first place in South Brooklyn i’ve seen their work. Their large stuff is pretty impressive, I believe some of them are ex graffiti writers and a coupe of the founders are from the magazine Mass Appeal, which was primarily about street art.
I normally agree with rob that the style is over done, but I happen to like this one.
DeLepp, you were the first person I thought of when I saw this.

It’s a nice change from the hipper-than-thou, drink this and men/women will have sex with you ads.
wtf are you talking about? that is EXACTLY what is being depicted in that mural, just in a more pretentiously omg the past the past the past way.
*rob*
superb, like the gin
saw them painting this sign about a week ago in the early evening. it’s a nice look for the neighborhood. much prefer it to the previous mural, which i think, was a guinnesss one?!?
I saw the guy painting this the other day. It replaces a series of hand painted ads for Newcastle Brown Ale which have been on this corner for about a year.
It’s a nice change from the hipper-than-thou, drink this and men/women will have sex with you ads. It’s colorful and fun, and because it’s a bit busy, one has to really look at it to see what’s going on, and that’s what advertising is about. The longer you stare at it, the more likely the name of the product will be embedded in your brain.
