14 Townhouses
We’ve known all along that the views weren’t going to be so hot out the back of the 14 Townhouses but we hadn’t realized that the backyards were quite this small. Guess that’s why they have roof terraces. Anyone know how deep the lots are on this block?

  1. These houses are reallllly cool from the front, in my view (I like old stuff, but it ain’t 1879 any more, and I think the design and copper accents are groovy). The problem is the nabe. Big apt building on Schrmerhorn is gonna make for dark, privacy-free backyards. Prison and skeevy-ish downtown nearby. Commercial traffic all around. Construction up the wazoo. That, coupled with price tags pushing $3 million, is why only 4 of the 14 houses have sold. For 1/3 less, you could be living purty damned high on the hog in FG or CH.

  2. partly by artists – here is quote from site provided by anon 1:42.

Get ready for all the knee-jerk comments from the flamers and naysayers about who will be able to look into those big windows of 14Townhouses.

“Schermerhorn House, Common Ground’s newest construction project, will provide 217 units of permanent, affordable housing for single adults, with more than fifty percent of the units reserved for formerly homeless and special needs individuals. Low income working tenants, including local actors and artists, will occupy the remainder of the units. On-site property management will be provided by Common Ground, with the Actors’ Fund offering on-site social services. ”
