The Times has a story about how architect Laurie Lieberman has redone her Prospect Park West house, which was formerly owned by Gov. Hugh L. Carey and Pete Hamill. The article gets into how Lieberman was attracted to the house’s width but wasn’t a fan of its “formal and dark” details. The biggest renovation has been to the galley kitchen and adjacent dining room, a job that cost between $85,000 and $90,000: “Ms. Lieberman opened and pushed out an 11-foot section of the wall separating the two rooms. The open space, which has a wide counter, was fitted with pocket doors that can be closed for formal dinners. Her goal, Ms. Lieberman said, was to create a contemporary look that wasn’t completely incongruous with the period paneling.” The furnishings, meanwhile, are by the likes of Saarinen, Piero Lissoni and Greta Grossman.
