Salvager: Fresh Haul of Maple Flooring

We stopped by Moon River Chattel over the weekend to see what was new in the salvage department. In addition to the usual assortment of tubs, doors and cabinets, we were interested to learn that they just came into possession of 5,000 square feet of turn-of-the-century maple flooring from an old warehouse in New Jersey. We believe it’ll be about $7 a foot.
I believe the “chunky girl” is one of the owners. She’s always gone out of her way to answer my questions and when I had the seats of some bentwood dining chairs recaned there, she was extremely attentive eg. making sure the stain they used on the new cane would match the old cane on the backrests.
I have always found them really helpful.
Maybe she sensed your judgemental attitude towards her body type, and turned to the internet for solace, while passifying her anxiety with clandestine bites of a candy bar? It’s a rough world out there in the retail sector.
I went in there recently and liked the stuff, overpriced or otherwise. But I couldn’t get past the fact that the chunky girl behind the desk couldn’t tear herself away from the internet to even acknowledge any of the several customers.
I don’t need to be stalked around the shop, but honey you’re selling USED HARDWARE. The “I’m so over this whole retail thing” tude is a bit much.
It’s Moon River…what do you expect?
$7 a square foot? Is that a typo??? For USED warehouse flooring?
Pricey.
