stereo-1008.jpgFile Under: Extremely Lame. We get why some people need to use interior designers for their home, but music stylists? Unfortunately so, reports The Times. Our clients are the type who send people all over the world to find the perfect spoon, or doorknob or type of marble, said Jeffrey Reed, a club D.J. and a founder of Audio Sushi, a custom music service in London. Puhleez!

  1. I saw that too, Dave. But we’re talking about an iconic, fashion genius who walks around with an 18th century fan and is called “the Kaiser” by fashionistas. What else can a man that has everything possibly get?

  2. Obama has his “body man” select all his music and load his iPod. I actually think this kind of makes sense for busy people. I’d love to have someone with great taste curate a bunch of new music for me. But I’d try to wheedle it from my friends and family for free…

  3. Just another sign that some upwardly mobile sectors of society need to slow down and prioritize. I guess with Tower Records and other record stores a distant memory, there’s no place to physically buy those mood compilation cd’s anymore, you know, the ones with titles like “Slow Jam”, “Relax”, and “Classical Music for Hipsters”. But between what you have getting dusty on a shelf, and what you can easily download, it shouldn’t be too hard to do it yourself. It’s not like learning to skimcoat a wall, or rewire your house.

I suppose if you have the kind of money to pay someone $500 to load your ipod, then you don’t have too many worries. Kudos to those smart people who are making a living tapping into the (silly) desires of the busy well to do. If they still have money to do that, then maybe my industry will thrive in these lean times, as well. I can only hope.
