The landmarked Julius Liebman Mansion mansion at 380 Clinton Avenue has been under renovation for years, after a doctor bought it in 2011 for $3.8 million. At the time, a tipster told Brownstoner the new owner was planning to install a swimming pool in the basement, but that apparently has not come to pass — at any rate, there is no mention of a pool in DOB filings.

The neo-Federal-style house was built in 1909 for Julius Liebmann, an heir to the Brooklyn brewing company known for Rheingold beer. The architect was Herts & Tallant, which also designed the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The Landmarks Preservation Commission called the building “one of the most beautiful houses in Clinton Hill.”
A project manager estimates the house will be move-in ready by January, according to a tipster who passed by recently.
The home is in the Clinton Hill Historic District, so the exterior work required LPC approval. Renovations began in 2012.

The 9,200-square-foot mansion sits on a 13,500-square-foot lot. The property also includes a carriage house on the Vanderbilt Avenue side.
There was a small fire on the second floor in 2008. The house hit the market the next year, initially asking $5.5 million.
