If you are hoping to warm up the floors of your Brooklyn home with texture and pattern, look no further than the designers working in the borough. Colors span the rainbow, weavings vary from flat to pile, and materials are creative.

Styles skew contemporary; all make a statement.

One designer, Brit Kleinman of Avo, has fashioned floor coverings out of cowhide, block printing a pattern on dyed skins.

We’ve found a small selection of artists whose work caught our eye and whose photographs provide a glimpse into their design process.
