Window installers and window brands

I have 5 french casement windows, 2 small french balcony doors, and one large set of french doors to our backyard which need to be replaced. They are currently wood windows which were made about 10 years ago, and they are all problematic. They do not have to be replaced with wood, and I frankly would rather something anyway. I’ve got a couple of questions to put out there: 1) Pluses and minuses of aluminum clad, vinyl, aluminum (all metal), and Fibrex (Renewal By Anderson) 2) Window installers. This one boggles my mind. I tried LWP, but I’ve been having problems scheduling an appointment. I had two other companies come in and not send me quotes even though I called them back. Yesterday I had someone from Four Seasons Sunrooms come out, and it was basically a joke. The guy didn’t know about their window products, and couldn’t give me a quote. Also he never followed up.

Am I missing something? I know this probably a 30-40k project. Does anyone have recommendations on installers/companies who can take a look at what needs to be replaced and have an intelligent conversation about options and the install process?

We got 15 double hung aluminum windows from Champion, cost $12,000\. Would have been less if we didn’t rebuild the frames on the ground floor. In November.

A window vendor passed by one of my construction sites about six weeks ago and handed me his card.  Subsequently two clients asked me for window leads, and I passed his name along.  He has been very prompt, very clear on details and has met with me and my clients numerous times with samples (from Marvin) though he sells a lot of brands.  Both clients decided to buy from him, and I am thankful to have a new relationship with his company.  My company will be installing the windows starting next week. Is it just me? – because everytime I’ve lived somewhere with the all metal replacement windows, they open and close easily.  (Not pretty at the edges, but they do the job.) And everytime I live somewhere with non-metal replacements (in the two homes that come to mind, brand new ones), which I presume is some sort of fiberglass, or it could be wood window frames with some sort of little metal side track set in what is either wood or fiberglass, they are really hard to open and close, taking a lot of pushing – I was just cursing the ones I currently live with yesterday.
