window guard/DOB code question
Not worth the potential nightmare if something goes wrong. Just get the window guards and install them per instructions, etc. (sleep well at night)…http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/pr2006/pr056-06.shtml

We just installed new Marvin windows, and now need to install window guards for our 2nd floor tenant. Is it acceptable by NYC building code standards to install a limiting device on the window that would not let it open more than 4″ rather than installing a traditional window guard? Safety first, of course, but wondering if NYC has a point of view on this. 311 and NYC.gov info haven’t been helpful.
