Looking for a door part

You can get a blank strike plate and cut/drill it to fit, or make a template and bring it to a metal shop to cut. I suspect this door needs more than a new strike plate though.

@arkady: cremone bolt might be too limiting of a search as a lot of people do not know what they are (the old term is “cremorne” and it too still returns results) and not many are installed today, at least not in Brooklyn (they are not usually used on entry doors but are instead used as the main or only locking mechanism on a pair french doors opening from the inside onto a patio or into a garden at the back of a house). “surface” bolt is more expansive and most of the sellers do not market the plates as a stand alone part. the op should search this “surface bolt latch plate” but that only returns the smaller, modern latches that i offered him above (and a rotary file can modify one of these if need be).

and op, you know you should have a saddle under those doors and have the bolt go into the saddle. that way you can also put sweeps on the doors to keep the draft out.

and OP, take what bob marvin say and go to the locksmith and ask to see some “latch plates”. or google latch plates. they come in different shapes and sizes. the kind you want is for a deadbolt, no lip on it. that might take care of it. i have hundreds of latch plates here as well, but you would be better finding one down there close by you or ordering one on amazon or something.

Perhaps a locksmith that’s been in business a long time might have the part. I like the 5th Avenue Key Shop, on 9th Street just west of 5th Avenue. Their sign says they’ve been in business since 1924.

i looked at the photo and that one is kind of large. i have dozens of small ones here from the modern brass slide bolts, such as those made by baldwin. if perhaps i am reading the scale of your photo wrong, i would be glad to give you one if you can find me when i am in my shop (i am here now, today, but might leave). also, i make these all the time and have sheet metals here but i would have to charge you for something like that and i might not have time today (it could take a 1/2 hour; if you got me a template i can cut it over the holiday or tomorrow and if you are in brooklyn, in my path of travel, i can drop it off).

all i do is work on wood doors and door related components and traditional locks.
