Is it possible to reseal windows without removing/replacing panes?
check the by-laws. in our old coop replacing the windows was responsibility of the bulding not the inidividual unit owner. Of course this is a massive undertaking/expense.

We’re purchasing a coop with windows that have severe condensation issues. I’ve read online that it is sometimes possible to correct this issue by drilling a small hole and creating a new vaccuum seal. We need to avoid replacing the window panes themselves. Has anyone done this and did it work? If so, can you recommend someone for this (who would have the necessary licenses to work in a coop building)?

Usually the IGU (insulated glass unit) has to be replaced as a whole. Drilling a hole and trying to create a vacuum doesn’t seem like it would work because it doesn’t fix the source of the moisture which is a seal failure somewhere. Drilling a hole on the inside of the unit and leaving it open might allow the vapor to escape and reduce the condensation but would reduce the insulating property of the window unit. I think there would also be a good chance the glass would crack during or after drilling the hole. Replacing the unit is your best bet.

I looked into it & was told it’s not doable. I recently got a replacement done by Vila – not everyone does it.
