This might seem a dumb question, but if a sewer line leaks, say past your property line, how would you know about it? It won’t show in your basement. Wouldn’t it just mostly dissipate into the ground? Also, does the city take responsibility only at the main sewer, that is, the entire line from house to connection is owner’s charge?
