BEST PLACE/ADVICE TO ADVERTISE RENTAL BY OWNER

Hi all, My last tenant moved out in October, had the place patched and painted…I had a washer/dryer hook-up and decided to add washer/dryer for one to increase rent and two to control the installation. I’ve decided to use my broker who found me my last tenant, it’s been about two months and no real traffic; broker mentioned this is a slow period for renting. So I am debating, do I stick with my broker or advertise myself? If I do decide to advertise myself, any advice on best place to advertise, screening tips and background check. I do like the fact that the broker does all that legwork, but I may need to take this on. Any tips will help, thank you in advance B.

craigslist. i just did both streeteasy and CL and ultimately got my tenant from the CL listing. Streeteasy people seemed to be shopping like amazon, they inquire and put it in their “saved list” then don’t respond. There were some good ones, but Streeteasy is a mess and the exact opposite of user friendly. All you need is good judgement, due diligence (i.e. an application & reference checks) and a credit check, then fill out a blumberg lease. For the Credit Check we use Transition Smartmove – the tenant fills in their own information and pays for credit check directly, eliminating the perception of risk of identity theft. best of luck, and i would refresh the craigslist ad every couple of days.
