3-bedroom rentals

Hi – I’m having trouble finding 3-bedroom rentals that are $4,000 or less.  We’re flexible as to where we live, but would love to move somewhere that has decent space, but also has a family-friendly feel (2 kids with one on the way.)  It seems that 3-bedrooms are quite scare. Any neighborhood advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Have you considered Queens?  Astoria and Jackson Heights are great family neighborhoods.

Rent for a 3 br in Bay Ridge is definitely under $4K but from what I hear they are also hard to come by.  I would recommend checking out the Bay Ridge Parents group on Yahoo and posting your request there – I always see people listing them there and you can ask questions about the neighborhood as well.   As for the R train, well it’s the same R train that I had to deal with when we lived in Park Slope, we now have about 10 or 15 more mins to get to Bay Ridge, but we have an entire house with backyard and basement for what a 2-BR apt. would go for in PS.  So for us it is worth it!

I will third Bay Ridge.  4000 could possibly get you a house rental here indeed.  Very family friendly – lots of children’s activites, parks, families, family friendly restaurants,  etc.

go to padmapper.com and set filters. There are some 3BRs in park slope. More in Prospect Height/Crown Heights and Clinton Hill. In Bay Ridge there are 3BRs for <= 2500\. For 4k a month you might look to rent a house there.
