Cost for a survey with elevations
What can I expect to pay for a survey with elevations, on a 25’x100′ lot in Bklyn?
I’m adding an extension to the rear of my mixed use bldg and need one.
Would it cost less if I use the same company that did the survey for my title/closing?
Thanks.

While Jordan’s right that an architect will usually survey the house itself, if you’re talking about a site survey, that’s something that you can order from any number of engineers. We typically use Boro Land Survey. The cost is usually between $1,000 – $1,500 depending upon the lot size and complexity, and the quantity of information needed (floor elevations, street utility locations and elevations, etc). It’s very likely that starting with the people who did the title survey will save some money as they’ve already done a significant amount of the work required. Have you hired an architect for design work / filing with the city? Most would include the work of surveying the property in their contract as the best way to know the measurements are correct is to do it yourself. If you have yet to hire, I would be happy to discuss this further and give you some estimates for schedule and cost.
