Parking tickets during alternate side parking hours.

Has anyone been ticketed during alternate side parking for violating code 45\. The violation states that stopping, standing, or parking; or if a vehicle extends more than 8 feet from the nearest curb, blocking traffic gets you $115 ticket. It is not for double parking, which is a code 46 violation. This ticket blitz occurred in PLG last Friday. The cars ticketed were parked in the same manner as on previous alternate side days without receiving tickets. Does anyone know what has changed?

Note that you can request a hearing online (in addition to hearing by mail or in person) http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/parking/park_tickets_dispute.shtml Also, note that today’s the last day for the settlement program. I think you can pay $90 (+$2 processing fee) if you pay today instead of the full $115 ticket amount.  “The Settlement Program is ending January 31, 2012\. If you wish to pay the settlement amount, Finance must receive your payment by January 31, 2012, even if it is less than 30 days from the time you agree to this settlement.”

In PLG’s 71st Pct. the community affairs officer can sometimes help when these tickets are issued during alternate side hours. I hope it doesn’t matter that it’s code 45 rather than 46\. In any case, it never hurts to ask.   BTW the custom in PLG is to leave EITHER your phone OR house number–but that’s just common courtesy and won’t help with tickets from an uniformed TCO or PO.

You should always leave your # in the car, not because of ticketing, but it’s common courtesty! Anyway, yeah end of the month they go nuts. But also, I once got ticketed after months of double parking for being on a fire house block. They had never ticketed before, but when I asked why this time, that’s what she told me. It was the end of the month.

I know that scenario, but I haven’t heard anything about that happening. It could be as others have stated, an end of the month drive to met a quota. It they keep it up, it’s going to be a real pain for the people on this residential block.

I haven’t been ticketed for code 45, but I can tell you that since last week in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens I’ve noticed a huge increase in police ticketing people, though mostly for moving violations. I saw four tickets being written within two blocks on 4th Ave. Today I saw a policewoman nearly get run over to ticket someone on the BQE feeder for cellphone use.

are you referring to the practice of double parking on alternate days?  this is what a customer told me when I was doing just that by his house:  “leave your phone number on the dash so if you block someone in, they can call.  if they cannot get out and complain to the traffic agent, everyone gets a ticket.”  I do not know if this is true or not, but could that be what happen?
