Plumbing inspection question
Question for the plumbers, We have a plumbing inspection coming up but our plans are being revised and the architect is saying to provide the inspection this letter. Will that fly or do I need actual stamped and approved plans on the site? The approved plans from 2005 were re-instated and are currently being amended but won’t be filed and approved for another couple of weeks, but we are looking to close up the walls ASAP. “Department of Building Plumbing Inspector 210 Joralemon Street, 8th Fl. Brooklyn, NY 11201 Re: “Address” To Whom It May Concern: I, “Architects name” am the applicant of record for DOB application# . I am in the process of amending the schedule B and the plans. The plans and schedule B will be amended as per your objections prior to signing off the application. Your attention and understating to this matter is greatly appreciated.

the stamped sealed original plans must be on the job at the time of inspection and absolutely must conform to the schedule b and actual construction. MP is correct. your architect hoping that no inspector shows up and he can pull a fast one… the letter is on par with “my dog ate my homework”

Thanks for the replies. I was worried you were going to say that. So even if the job is self certified and are currently active and approved but need to be amended?

The inspector doesn’t want to see your letter. He wants to see approved, perforated plans. This line: “The plans and schedule B will be amended as per your objections prior to signing off the application” is going to give the inspector a heart attack. This is so wrong, I’m trying to remain composed in my reply. Call off your inspection or take the failure. This isn’t going to work.

If the inspector shows up, he will most likely turn around and walk out. They need to check the work against a perforated copy of the drawings. Actually these days I think it’s a bar code, not perforation. In either way, I have never had an inspector cut me any slack. The first thing they ask is if I am the licensed plumber, then for the drawings. Especially if this is a final or gas final. I’d say keep the appointment and see if he shows, if not, you’re good to go. If he does, you most likely will fail and have to reschedule. Good luck.
