Need recommendation for sump pump

Thanks! The information you have provided will be most useful. Are these typically connected to the outgoing sewer line? I have seen some houses with hoses poking out of the front and would like to avoid this option is possible.

Any licensed plumber can do this correctly. Unlicensed maybe not so much if they aren’t experiencd with sump pumps, which are rather rare here compared to the suburbs. Get a good quality pump with at least 1/3 HP. I use Little Giant pumps. You can buy them at Amazon.

DiBS is right, it is a fairly easy install for someone qualified or handy. We performed all of the maintenance and upgrades on ours ourselves and we lived in an 8 unit building. One very helpful upgrade we made was installing clear check-valves (also available on Amazon). This allowed us to see, in the event of a back up, what may be causing the problem. Our pumps were initially installed poorly by the sponsor of the building and kept backing up due to construction debris that was discarded into the sump pits, then we had residents flushing materials that were not suitable for a sump. By being able to see what was causing the back up was helpful.

Yes, keep the sump pit/basin free of debris. Wire mesh cut to fit around the evacuation pipe and covering the pit will extend the life of the pump and prevent clogging issues or the float from damage. Your plumber may or may not install that
