Need architect/plumber recommendation for DOB 30 day notice

Got a notice from DOB that I have to have an RPZ installed on my water line. DOB requires an architect to submit drawing for approval ( at which point they give me a 60 day extension) and a licensed plumber to complete the work. Need help finding someone who can expidite the work Thanks in advance.

Well, I had done my plumbing from Exengo. Firstly, I studied their website, understood their focus areas. I have to say I haven’t come across any plumbing problems since I got my plumbing system redone from them. However this is a solution for [plumbing in Stockholm](http://www.exengo.se/vvs-i-stockholm/), Sweden. I suggest you look for a good consultant in your area. Take your time in researching them rather than just going for any plumber that comes your way. I am sure there must be many reliable consultants in your location. Hi I am an architect and have made many applications to the NYC DEP for back flow prevention device approvals. I also have plumbers who conduct the installation, testing and post installation filing requirements with the DEP. I can send the DOB / DEP a retention letter so that we can extend the time necessary to comply – btw – it takes three months to even have a design application for a back flow device approved by the DEP cross connection unit – and then another month to just schedule and get the work completed.

Its an RPZ that needs to be installed. First qoute I got is for around 7k for engineer and plumber. Was told that water pressure would be lost and a booster might have to be installed…in which case can add to the work another 5k or so.

Arkady – I am aware that a check valve is a simple issue. However the letter (2 pages) from the DOB said that I have to have the work done because of the size of my boiler and because there are soda guns installed in the basement (bar on ground floor). On the second page they listed all the other reasons that a commercial building will have to have this work done and the list was very extensive. Almost any commercial or mixed us building will fall into that catagory. I don’t have the letter on me but will be back to let you know exactly how the DOB requires for this to happen (architect drawing submitted followed by licensed plumber install).

According to my neighbors, a check valve can be installed by any competent plumber. Can you tell us why this issue arose?
