Insulating thick cold water pipes
We have 1 3/4″ cold water supply pipes coming into our building. I would like to use foam insulation to cut down the condensation and just because it is cheap to insulate. Foam only seems to come up to 1 1/2″. Anyone know if I should just use 1″ and 3/4″ and tape them together or if someone makes wider insulation? Maybe a wrap around solution?

So they measure the inside of the pipe for exterior insulation, interesting. Thanks, I’ll look into that.

You are most likely measuring the outside diameter of the pipe. In which case your pipes are either 1-1/2″ or 1-1/4″. Order your insulation based on one of those two sizes (whichever is yours). OD for 1-1/2″ pipe is around 1.9 inches (1-7/8).

That’s great thanks. If anyone had anything local I would check that out as well.
