has anyone worked with NCA Plumbing&Heating Neville Adams?

Hi Me and my husband just moved in bed stuy/ocean hill and we just found out we have gas leak problem. National grid turned off our gas and we don’t know how we will survive in this cold. We found this person named Neville Adams (NCA Plumbing&Heating LLC) on internet and we are trying to work with him. He was the only one who responded and can start working on this weekend. I was wondering if you knew or had any experience with this person or the company? We couldn’t find any reviews online. Also we got a quote for $4500 for replacing the pipes in basement. does this price sound normal? this is the first time we bought a house and we just don’t have a clue. We will very appreciate any info or advices. Thank you

Thank you for all your comments. We just went with NCA Plumbing and finished the work with Neville Adams. It’s been so cold and we had to replaced the pipes to get our gas back asap. Most of our pipes were really old and we confirmed there were many spots had gas leak. Thankfully we didn’t have to bust out our kitchen though. National grid came in and checked all the spots very thoroughly for a few hours and we finally got our gas back. they said the plumber did a great job and we are very happy about it. I would definitely recommend him 😉

I agree with John. Just get gas lines replaced. Don’t get involved with testing and repair of old gas piping. Make sure you get gas authorization from DOB for new gas lines, otherwise utility will not turn gas back on.

There’s no way of knowing without an assessment of the job. Therefore, no one here has any idea, including me, if $4,500 is a competitive price for getting your gas turned back on. Chasing gas leaks on pipes behind walls and in ceilings is a nightmare. Often, the best, fastest, easiest thing to do is to start at the meter and run new pipes along a new route to the few appliances in the home that need gas. Otherwise, the process is: identify-repair-test, identify-repair-test, and that could go on for days. It happens all the time. Either new pipes or patchwork repairs could easily cost $4,500.00. And for the record, practically everyone has a gas leak somewhere in their home.

All the pipes surly cannot be leaking or the house would have blown up long ago. $4,500 to fix a few (although probably only one) is far too much. I am sure not all the pipes need replacing! Of course getting a plumber in the dead of winter in the middle of a freeze is tough. Call Raul Williams, he works all weekend at this time of the year 347-623-7536
