Does anyone have experience using Hotshot?

Hey ive been having really bad plumbing problems- back ups and flooding in the basement etc. i have had the drains snaked a few times but it doesnt seem to be effective long term. i was told to use Hotshot but im scared of it. its corrosive and viscous and i was told by a plumber that it might damage my pipes. any advice?

I hope your problem can be solved with a reputable seewr service as suggusted by the previous poster. I am concerned that this type of flooding may be becoming more common in Brooklyn. The summer weather (two or three years may or may not be a long term trend) has had more severe thunderstorms – huge amounts of rainwater hitting the sewer system in a short amount of time can cause back-ups – water has to somewhere. As a result owners are experiencing more floods on the lowest floors of their buildings. To compound the problem, more people have converted cellars into spaces used for something other than mechanical and storage. And developers have converted cellars into basements in order to maximize floor area. Spaces that used to get flooded every so often are now kitchens or bedrooms.

whoever gave you the advice to use hotshot is a fool… call a reputable snake service like Electric sewer and drain service in the bronx, or Drain king in brooklyn and get your mains cleaned… have them examine the street side to see if your drainage past the house drain to the city sewer are damaged..if you are flooding after torrential downpors, you may have no recourse due to undersized city sewers
