$250 is an average price. Any reputed company will charge this fair amount, sometime few bucks more. However, the quality of work output comes first, costing can go high or low.

You?ll need way more detail than that to get an accurate number such as the area, type, etc. Cost to Replace a toilet averages $200 – $220 approx. – Maybe costs little bit differ according to region.

Find a handyman and add some other jobs to fill the day for $200. Man – 250 – I wish I could still get upset about 3 digit numbers.

This is a very basic job but I would expect a handyman to charge a minimum for his time. Most tradesmen will charge you at least $250 as a minimum. They have overhead expenses and need to make realistic income. Small jobs like this take them away from larger better paying ones.

While on the topic, the internet uses available data, such as what different projects cost by zip code according to what is reported on applications for building permits. To keep fees low, home owners often under-report project costs and the bell curves such as on Home Advisers reflect that – unless contractor prices are totally fabricated to direct traffic to websites where contractors are recommended. Either way, home owners consulting the internet are always able to find less than realistic prices for any project.

It was the answer to the poster’s question. In the history of Brownstoner…maybe of the internet, actually…it has never happened that someone asking if the price they were quoted by any contractor to perform any task was high or not that wasn’t met with any number of people telling them they were being ripped off because some person got a similar job done for some fraction of that cost. The posters name is bedstuytownhouse. Bed-Stuy in particular is teeming with people calling themselves contractors, plumbers, painters, electricians, etc who work for no money whatsoever and do atrocious work. I know because I get called weekly to fix this stuff. What I’m telling the poster is if they want to find someone to install their toilet for $100, they will find that person. And that person will refer to themselves as a Plumber and that $100 will buy him and his girlfriend dinner. If you want to hire a person with the dedication and stability in business to acquire and maintain a license and an umbrella insurance policy that works legally with the protection you should be insisting upon having, then it costs more. In this case about $250.
