Antique clawfoot with original tub filler in need of more modern faucets...
Wow, is that cool. Could you perhaps keep what you have and add an additional wall mounted shower riser set? The only part you’d be replacing is the spigot, which, going by your photo, seems to detach? Check vintage tub online for various configurations. We really like the quality of Strom — we have their faucets on our bathroom sink, and they are perfect reproductions of what was there originally — but we went with Randolph Morris (Vintage Tub’s house brand) for our shower riser and with Springhouse for the rental and they’re both fine. Maybe Vintage Tub or Strom could suggest a workaround. I think Strom only deals with wholesalers. New York Replacement Parts on the Upper East Side has a very knowledgeable staff who could talk to Strom for you. If they don’t know, consult with Walter Parker, a plumber in Massachusetts who specializes in antique installations. He restored a nickel skeleton shower for Zaborski Emporium in Kingston. In fact, he has a photo of just such a setup on his website. http://www.oldplumbfixer.com And would love to know how this turns out!

We’ve got an antique clawfoot with this type of plumbing (See photo) I’ve seen variable-center deck mounts and we’re thinking of switching out to one of those but are concerned that they’ll look weird or won’t clear the height needed for the center piece that drains the tub. Anyone encountered one of these setups before? Would love to hear how you upgraded. A shower is a necessity.

That’s really beautiful. IF it can be refurbished, couldn’t you keep it and add a telephone shower? Otherwise, there are reproduction faucets like these that include shower fittings:[](http://deabath.com/Faucet_and_Faucet_parts/Tub_faucets/Tubshwr_fcts/tubshwr_fcts.html)
