A few days ago we found an adult bed bug on our bed. There has been no signs of bite marks anywhere prior or current. I understand sometimes it can take weeks for the bite to develop a reaction. We also created a few bed bug co2 detector using yeast and they been empty so far. In the event that there is an infestation, anyone have any recommendation? Seems like there are 2 type of treatment; pesticide or thermal heating. I would prefer not to take the pesticide route. Anyone ever had thermal heat treatment success stories? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure you found a bed bug? If you did, I would get a reputable firm that specializes in bed bug treatment out immediately to investigate. The sooner you nip this in the bud, the easier and cheaper it will be for you. * Re the treatment — it’s not either or. It’s not something you do yourself. A bed bug specialist will go over every inch of your apartment with chemicals (some are fairly harmless to humans — I think some are merely alcohol; also diatomaceous earth). * Then you will be required to treat all of your possessions, from toys and books to clothes and bedding. You will first pack up everything you own in big black garbage bags, then treat the items with a variety of heat treatments or alcohol. * I don’t recommend using Hot Shot. It’s unnecessary and dangerous. I accidentally came into contact with an open Hot Shot without realizing it a year later in a bag of clothes and had to go the emergency room. It can cause you to stop breathing. * We spent about $3,500 to get rid of the bugs. It worked. Good luck.

Thermal heating idea is really great. It’s much safer then pesticide. Way to go, best of luck.
