Tipping house painters

I am in the process of having my brownstone painted (a fairly major job involving prep work, removing wallpaper, etc). Should I tip the workers and how much should I tip? They spent about 2-3 weeks on the job (though not sure it was all the same people). Thanks.

I would only tip the people who did the painting (probably least paid). I would do it on a per-day amount basis as 20% of the bill might be a lot. If 3 weeks, 15 days and you do $30/day that would be $450/worker (see what % of the price that is and adjust accordingly) I dont think they expect it but ’tis the season!

I normally tip the foreperson and have them split it amongst the workers. Generally 10-20% seems to be a good ballpark depending on the quality of work. I am actually looking for a painter to paint my communal space, would you recommend the team you used?
