Painting Metal Window Guards

I am repainting old metal guards that cover the glass on our old wooden door. Fairly thin metal etc. and much in need of a good paint job. Is it best to paint with oil or water based for this application? Thanks

use the rustoleum but also prime this with rustoleum primer. Steve

you should use rustoleum paint it is an oil base paint so cover the floors. it is very hard to take off if you make a mess.
