City cut down wrong tree.

The city identified a damaged tree in front of my house for removal but the tree removal crew cut down the wrong tree.  Instead of removing the damaged tree they cut down a big, beautiful and perfectly healthy red maple tree.  Has anybody had this happen?

It happened about a year ago to a tree in front of a church in our neighborhood. Crew had to come back to take down truly damaged tree and then planted two new ones.

Bear in mind that the Parks Dept, like the library system and the Rat Patrol, has been slashed to the bone by the city. Very very few of the unionized (and experienced) city parks workers are still employed, and those are largely concentrated in Manhattan — specifically, in Central Park. Most of the work is now done by subcontracted, nonunion workers, with minimal City oversight. So mistakes do happen.

Incompetence runs rampant through government at ALL levels.  Sorry to hear that.  it must be extremely frustrating.  Call your councilman’s office, get the to act to get the correct tree removed and 2 new ones planted.
