Wanted to Share Our Experience with a Mason for Recent Work Done...

Hey again, our work continues with our recent brownstone purchase.  We just had some masonry work done which ranged from basic sidewalk and rear extension foundation repair to more complex partial rebuilding of the foundation under our stoop and repointing the front and rear cellar walls and sealing and installing vents on three crumbling, old window wells on the rear cellar wall (I had posted here previously asking for recommendations for masons to repair these openings).  We had 4 masons come to provide estimates, one of which I found here on brownstoner.  The one we chose I came across from a business card that was left in my mailbox (was a bit leary of this at first).  The work completed was exactly what was described, and the crew was clean and professional.  I liked that the owner was responsive and took the time to discuss his thoughts on how best to handle the crumbling and completely open holes that were at one point window wells. Not commenting on your contractor, just saying that the real test of masonry work is at least one year down the road. That is, after it’s held up to inclement weather, to driving rain, to winter snow, to freeze and thaw cycles. Of course, lousy work will reveal itself even more quickly.

Im also curuious if he does stoops, as in completely tearing out the old one and building a complete  new one.  I see he did some stoop foundation repair to yours but I need the whole thing removed and rebuilt.
