Algae On Brownstone

Our brownstone has some areas that are gradually getting covered with green algae. On the steps, window sills and some hard to reach high areas as well. What’s the best way to clean it off? Thanks       Enter Your Question

scrub it down with water, a crub brush and some Mex Phosphate Free All Purpose cleaner.

I wouldn’t use muriatic acid – it eats the masonry.  I’d sluice it w/ Clorox diluted w/ water – let sit for a bit, then hose down.

Have a mason use a pressure washer and a detergent or with light muriatic acid to clean the algae. it works perfect. i used my mason on one of the areas in the backyard for something similar like yours. Make sure you tell your mason to use low pressure washer so you don’t damage your brownstones if any deterioration are visible.
