Requesting Historic District Street Lights -- Doable?

I live in the Cobble Hill historic district, and have seen beautiful historic street lights on Clinton Street, but not many other blocks of the district. You can see them here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/nycdot-streetdesignmanual-interior-04-lighting.pdf Am wondering: How does the City decide which blocks get these and which do not? Is there a process by which residents can request the historic street lighting? Has anyone had success in petitioning for these, and can you offer guidance? Thanks!

Speak to your local Community Board, as well as your local BID (Business Improvement District). Oftentimes, the restoration or installation are projects of one or both.
