Need a great real estate/landlord-rights attorney

With all the posts about awful attorneys, does anyone have a recommendation for a good, competent one? We need someone with experience in rent controlled tenants and preferably someone who knows their way around the Kings County court system. Not looking to low-ball, this is both a commercial sale and a rent-regulation issue. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I second Tony Cornicello and his partner Yuri Buhrsteyn. Rent control, rent regulation is complicated with lot of potential pitfalls. Tony and Yuri are helpful and reasonable.

I do not like to recommend either type of attorney, because it is a question of witch are the least awful and it boils down to who’s ego and personality can you stomach for the time you have to deal with them, but that said; if you are the seller, get your tenant issues sorted and check the filings with DHCR etc. before you put it on the market. If you are the buyer; if the sellers filings with DHCR are not straight and you still want it…you must calculate how much risk you want to take on….other buyers have big balls in this market. Many, many years ago I used to meet with a lot of old real estate guys at a coffee shop on Court St, before the days of computers, etc. waiting for the buildings department and all the courts to open. They all told me, learn the ins and outs yourself and never take business advise from “the triple A’s” (architects, attorneys & accountants)

BTW there’s no such things as a Kings County court system–they’re state Courts. The 5 counties of NYC have only vestgial functions ; the only County agencies are the Public Administrators, and the District Attorneys and even then all their employees are CITY employees, although technically they aren’t CITY agencies.

Just used Borah Goldstein for issues with non payment in Kings County of rent stabilized tenants and some issues with documentation and deregulation. Highly recommend them
