Flooring Question

Friends, My neighbor had a leak which damaged our floors.  Unfortunately, the floor type is no longer produced (manufactured wood) and the nearest color is an 1/8th of an inch taller.  The flooring guy suggested we redo the entire living room and hallway so the floor looks continuous.  Obviously my neighbor has balked at paying for the entire floor versus just the damaged section.  What is the legal precedent on this?  I don’t really feel like paying a dime for their damages, nor do I want two different types of wood in the main part of my house. Thanks

If the difference is only 1/8″, there are Schluter extrusions that are T in profile that could separate the old and new sections, it might be possible to make it look as if it should be there.

Oh, the tornado ripped off 1/4 of my roof (fact) and I asked the insurance company to pay for a new roof (well, no), since I didn’t feel like paying a dime for God’s damages, nor did I want two differently aged roofing materials. Guess what. They paid for 1/4 of the re-roofing charges. They should be responsible for actual damages, not for your aestethic concerns. But I’m sure you’re entitiled to try for better.

If they have renters or homeowners insurance, the liability clause may cover the damages.
