Wall-mounted toilet?

Currently working on a bathroom renovation and have run into some plumbing issues (a metal beam in the floor is obstructing the branch line for the drain leaving the contractor to recommend raising the floor by several inches as our only option). As an alternative, we think we could potentially solve the issue by installing a wall-mounted toilet. Im aware of the plumbing and structural concerns (reinforced wall to support the weight, etc). I’m curious if anyone has had any experiences good or bad with particular models and what people have paid for installation using a kit. Also any recommendations on plumbers? We’re not entirely new to construction – Is this something we can DIY?

Basically, the wall that the toilet is mounted in front of has not in all manner on the weight manner ability of the wall hung toilets carrying abilities. The power and loud capability are openly related to how well the carrier or hook behind the wall is fastened to the floor beneath.

I have seen carrier disappointment because not all the anchor opinions were used for the legs, weak deputize floor material, and no use of the anchor bar behind the covered carrier that stops the descending control from the bowl collapsing the carrier over resulting in the bowl nose drumming the floor.

The indecorous setting of the support nuts and washers is the amount one cause of the feeling of “Flexing” or moving as well as a water leak from the waist closure at the wall and boring leaks from the joining of the flush tube to the top of the bowl.

We have a Toto in one bathroom and a Duravit in the other. Had them for 6 years. We prefer the Toto as it flushes better. I’m attributing it to the flow dynamics of the toilet drain since we used the Geberit carrier in both so it’s actually the same flush mechanism.

everything is accessible by removing the front panel where the flush buttons are. As long as the water supply line and drain are properly connected to the tank before closing up the wall, nothing will leak. I’ve had my toilet 6 years now, and the inside flush mechanism works like the day it was installed. While all my normal toilet flappers need to be replaced every few years.

Be sure you have an access panel in the back of the toilet in case you need to fix anything such as leaks.

I’ve personally installed a toto system, it’s pretty simple as long as you follow directions. The in wall tank system are all the same though, doesn’t really matter the company you go with. I liked the toto wall hung toilet, so i bought it all together. The wall doesn’t have to be reinforced in any special matter, just need studs on both sides, it also attaches to the subfloor. You can deff DIY it, as long as you have some aptitude for construction work and patience.
