Shower set you love?

Made the bold decision to go for a shower-only bathroom and want the shower “system” (or set?  not sure what it’s called but i mean the shower head and the vertical bar with the hand held shower and the hot/cold controls) to be simple (not a lot of knobs), good looking (modern) and hard working (willing to pay more for longevity).  Does anyone have a shower system they love and would recommend? Thanks!

We went with Newport Brass but we were looking for a more traditional design.  We got a thermostatic valve which is the best thing ever!  It lets you set the temperature of the water coming out of the shower head before it comes out, so no more fussing with the hot and cold water taps.

How are you waterproofing your shower?  Is it tiled?  Does it have a waterproof membrane under the tile?  What kind?  Does it have a lead pan (pan liner) or vinyl?  Does it have some other type of shower base?  If not tile, what are the walls made of?

Eh, we got rid of our bathtub like 10 years ago and never miss it. We recently did our master bath over and got a Hansgrohe shower system/set.  Don’t know the model but it’s a verticle bar with adjustable up and down shower head.  The best thing is the control – a large circular plate with two controls, on/off and temperature control.  You can leave it preset so it’ll always come on at the temp you like.  That control is worth every penny.  My description is horrible but it’s a very clean look.  The Hansgrohe brand is very nice.  FWIW, we got it at Disco Bath on MacDonald.  But that brand is available at any decent bath store.
