Seeking a 3.5 GPF flushometer toilet -- will trade
THANK YOU so much, everyone. I have been concerned that if we go to somewhere like Demolition Depot and get one of their old toilets, how will we know whether it is a 3.5 gallon (with concerns such as those bobjbkin raised) or a 5.5 or a 7 gallon toilet? And if it is a 5.5 or a 7, I don’t think there are flushometers out there for that size — the highest I see by Sloan is 4.5 GPF. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks again.

I want a stronger flush than my new 1.6 gallon per flush (GPF) toilet can give. If you have a 3.5 GPF flushometer toilet in white and good condition, I can trade you either a brand new 1.6 Crane flushometer toilet (back spud) or a brand new (in box) 1.6 Toto flushometer toilet (top spud) or a sizeable store credit at NY Plumbing Repair. Anyone interested please?

3.5’s are illegal to install. Is this a tank type toilet or does it use a flushometer? Toto does make a 1.6 that has a great flush. We have a 1.6 type wall mount in our office that has an amazing flush(with a Zurn flushometer). I installed Toto’s basic Drake model in my powder room a year back and I’ve never had a problem with it. Finding a used toilet? You really want some one elses “crap”? Get an ultra flush(powerflush) toilet if you want power.

There is a huge market/demand for older toilets specifically because of the amout of water in the tank. Tecnically not legal to install in new construction. No one going to give you a problem in your older house.

Demolition Depot on 125th in Harlem between 2nd & 3rd Avenues has a whole bunch of old flushometer toilets. Give them a visit and you can find what you’re looking for.

Park Slope Plumbing ordered the small tank Toto by mistake and I was really angry. My contractor put it in. But I am very impressed. It flushes every last crumb and I have never had to double flush. It never leaves streaks. I think the tree huggers at PSP aren’t so bad.

If you manage to get a 3.5 gallon toilet, you may be very disappointed. Certainly when they first came out, manufacturers didn’t quite understand hydrodynamics and essentially used the same bowls as the earlier 5.5 to 7 gallon flushers. As a result the 3.5 gallon toilet may perform much worse than a good modern 1.6er.
