Kitchen Cabinets Similar to Ikea?

Does anyone know of any kitchen cabinet options that are similar to Ikea’s in terms of looks and price? I am re-doing the galley kitchen in my co-op. Due to the placement of the door and window in the kitchen, the wall cabinets can have a maximum depth of 12″ . . . and the new wall cabinets from Ikea are 15″ deep. I am planning on doing most of the work myself. I’m on a budget, so most of the custom stuff is ruled out. Home Depot had a few things that weren’t terrible, but seemed a bit dowdy. Does anyone have any recommendations on good, affordable kitchen wall cabinets?

I’ve been also recently scratching head over choosing the proper cabinets for my kitchen and couldn’t decide what color I want my kithcen to be and how to place the cabinets better. I used IKEA wall cabinets as base cabinets.THese are typically 12″ deep. Give that a try. I set mine on their stainless steel legs about 4″ high.

Just buy ikea cabinets and borrow or buy a table saw to rip them down 3″ to your required depth. I reduced a wall of 24″ deep cabinets to 18″ and it was fine. If you need specific info on how to do it you can probably find tips on how to do it online. I think it will be your cheapest option.

Just saw your depth requirements. If you are planning to do some of this work yourself than I will assume you can use a circular saw. Ikea products can be cut very easily, I have done it before myself. You can simply rip the side, top and bottom pieces to your required depth.

Exactly what bedstuyreno says…We just redid our kitchen with Ikea, for the same basic reasons, budget and like the look. The hardware for the doors/drawers is excellent and what we saved with the cabinets allowed us to go higher end in other areas, like counter tops.

There are bunch of chinese cabinet shops on College Point Blvd in Queens right next to a home depot. They have all types of cabinets in stock and really affordable
